BBQ Supports Rescue Unit

The New Liskeard Fire Station will be firing up the grill Saturday for a community fundraiser supporting the purchase of a new water and ice rescue unit.

The fundraiser BBQ takes place June 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Sharma’s Your Independent Grocer in Temiskaming Shores.

Residents are invited to stop by for food, support local firefighters, and help raise funds for equipment that could play an important role during water and ice emergencies in the region.

Organizers say the event is about more than just BBQ. It’s also a chance for the community to come together and support local emergency services.

All-Ages Metal Show Tonight

There’s no shortage of things happening across the Tri-Town area this weekend, but tonight’s all-ages metal show at the Haileybury Legion promises to be one of the louder and more memorable experiences.

Guhn Twei and Advocate headline the night, joined by Running Late and Blüdshot for an evening of live heavy music at Branch 54 on Broadway Street.

Doors open at 7:00 p.m. with the first band taking the stage at 7:30 p.m.

Whether you’re a longtime metal fan or just looking for something different to do locally, organizers say the event is open to all ages and meant to bring people together through live music and energy.

Advance tickets are $15 or $20 at the door. Tickets and event details are available here
