Take Tri Town Today with you. The Tri Town Today Tour is a quick, laid-back way to catch up on what’s happening around the Tri Towns while you’re on the go.
Three mornings a week, Jesse and Cole walk you through the latest local stories. Listen on your drive, while running errands, at the gym, walking the dog or wherever your day takes you.
New episodes arrive Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings on Spotify and soon on Apple.
One heads-up: Jesse and Cole are AI-generated hosts. The voices aren’t real, but the local stories they’re talking about are.

Swing by for a page and let the colouring begin.

Water Disruption on Scott Street Thursday

Pic Credit: TemiskamingShores.ca
Heads up, New Liskeard: water service on Scott Street will be off Thursday, October 15 from 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM while the city completes a water service repair. Scott Street will also be closed to traffic between Birch Drive and Jaffray Street, with work expected to wrap up by 4:00 PM.
Residents on Jaffray Street between Birch Drive and Scott Street may notice low pressure or discoloured water during the work. The city asks everyone to use water responsibly and thanks residents for their patience while crews finish the job safely.
New Liskeard Library Secrets

Pic Credit: Temiskaming Shores Public Library
Sharren Reil works at the library, and even she needed time to figure out everything it does. So she wrote it all down.
Here is some of what she found. The library has no debit machine, so bring cash or a cheque for printing and photocopies. They sell monthly bus passes, $100 for adults and $80 for students and seniors, though your first pass needs a photo taken at the Pool Fitness Centre. They sell dog and cat tags, but only your first one. Renewals happen at City Hall.
The free stuff is where it gets good. Ontario Provincial Park passes go out free with a library card, good for a carload for seven days of day use. Family pool passes cover a week at the Pool Fitness Centre, twice a year per patron. Radon detectors check your basement for three weeks. Portable WiFi hotspots lend for two weeks, popular with off-grid folks, campers and cottagers. There is a 3-D printer, and staff will print for you if you call about the cost.
The lobby holds a community fridge, run by the City's Age Friendly Coordinator and volunteers with food donated by local stores. Anyone who needs it can take from it. No card required.
Snowshoes and walking poles go out too. Light therapy lamps help with seasonal adjustment disorder. The children's area upstairs has games and puzzles anyone can use, no card needed, and the public computers and study rooms are free the same way.
Library cards are free with proof you live in Temiskaming Shores. The townships of Casey and Harley cover their residents. Outside the area, a family card runs $120 a year, or $75 for half.
Sharren left a few things out on purpose. She wants you to come in and find the rest yourself.

🎨 Appreciate Autumn Colouring Contest
The Temiskaming Shores Public Library is holding an Appreciate Autumn Colouring Contest for children ages 3 to 12 from September 19 to October 17.
Children can compete in three age categories: 3–5, 6–8 and 9–12, with a prize for the first-place winner in each group. Colouring pages are available at the library's Reference Desk.
🍲 Homemade Meals Fundraiser
Timiskaming Home Support is selling homemade meals as a fundraiser. Lasagna, shepherd's pie and meatballs are on the menu, with 9x13 pans at $25 and 8x8 pans at $15.
Order by calling 1-877-318-9678 ext. 2268. Orders are due October 15 and will be ready October 22. Payment details are on the order form, and they will call you when your order is ready.
🍬 Halloween Treat Drive in Latchford
Want to hand out treats this Halloween but cannot be at the door? The Latchford Fire Department is accepting candy and treat donations. Drop them off at the fire department on October 24 between 1:00 and 3:00 PM.
Your donations help make Halloween sweet and safe for local kids.
🏠 Radon Detectors at the Library
Curious about the air in your home? The Temiskaming Shores Public Library is lending out radon gas detectors, and they are easy to try.
Devices can be borrowed for three weeks. If you have questions or want to check one out, call 705-647-4215 or email [email protected].
🎨 DSB1 Holiday Card Contest
Student artists can now enter District School Board Ontario North East's 7th Annual Holiday Card Contest. The winning piece becomes the board's official 2026 holiday card, shared with schools and communities across the region.
Artwork is due Tuesday, October 27 by 4 p.m. Students can submit through their school office, by mail, or by emailing a high-resolution file to [email protected]. Full artwork criteria and dimensions are at dsb1.ca/dsb1-holiday-card-contest.
