A Local Mystery to Colour

A new book from a local author is inviting readers to step inside the mysterious Larder Theatre, if they dare.

Larder Lake author Terina Wnuk’s Colourful Secrets: The Larder Theatre centres on Emily Lynn, a celebrated actress who was preparing for the role of her career in the autumn of 1947.

Opening night arrived. The audience was seated and the orchestra was ready. But Emily never made it to the stage.

Decades later, her belongings remain scattered throughout the theatre, waiting to be discovered, giving readers a mystery to explore as they make their way through the book.

And now you can pick up a signed copy close to home.

The Larder Lake Co-op is carrying signed copies of Colourful Secrets: The Larder Theatre, giving local readers a chance to support a local writer while discovering the secrets hidden inside the theatre.

Copies are available now at the Co-op

Larder Lake Legion Marks 100 Years

A century of service and community will be celebrated later this month as Royal Canadian Legion Branch 293 in Larder Lake marks its 100th anniversary.

The Branch is inviting the community to an Open House on Saturday, September 26 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Legion, located at 31 Market Street in Larder Lake.

The centennial marks 100 years of the Royal Canadian Legion's presence in the community and recognizes the generations of members who have helped make the Branch part of Larder Lake.

The Open House is open to both Legion members and the public, offering the community an opportunity to come together and recognize the milestone.

Everyone is welcome to stop by and help Branch 293 celebrate 100 years

The young filmmakers won't be the only ones on the screen. The DreamWorks animated movie Dog Man will also be shown as part of the evening.
