Haileybury Golf Club’s First Open Social Night of the Season Includes Dinner, Prizes, and a $10,000 Hole In One Shot

Summer golf season is heating up in the Tri Towns as 28 on the Lake teams up with the Haileybury Golf Club for the first Open Social Night of the season on June 19.
The evening will feature a four person scramble format with a 5:30 p.m. shotgun start, along with prizes, dinner by The Market Eatery, and a chance at a $10,000 hole in one prize sponsored by St. Cyr and Associates.
Organizers are encouraging golfers to register early and put together a team of four for what’s expected to be a fun community night on the course.
Registration is now open through the Haileybury Golf Club Pro Shop by phone or in person at 705 672 3455.

TFN Youth Centre Looking for Workshop Leaders and Presenters

Timiskaming First Nation Youth Centre is inviting presenters, facilitators, and community members to help create workshops and programming for local youth.
The Youth Centre is currently looking for people with knowledge, life experience, creative talents, cultural teachings, or professional skills to lead workshops on topics ranging from wellness, leadership, cooking, entrepreneurship, and traditional teachings to media literacy, fitness, and healthy relationships.
Organizers say both professionals and community members are encouraged to apply, especially those passionate about helping youth build confidence, life skills, and connection within the community.
Anyone interested can submit a workshop or presentation proposal along with a quote for services to [email protected].
Programs like this can make a lasting impact because sometimes one conversation, skill, or mentor is enough to help point a young person in a completely different direction.

🚱 Water Flushing and Boil Water Advisory Underway in Notre-Dame-du-Nord
Residents in Notre-Dame-du-Nord are being advised that aqueduct flushing will take place May 19–22 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., which may cause temporary pressure drops, cloudy water, or brief service interruptions. A boil water advisory is in effect as a precaution while the maintenance work is completed.
🚒 Temiskaming Shores Hiring Fire Chief
The City of Temiskaming Shores is currently seeking a full time permanent Fire Chief to lead and manage the municipal Fire Department.
The position offers a salary range of $118,055 to $138,888 annually based on a 35 hour work week. Qualified candidates are asked to submit a resume and cover letter quoting Competition No. 2026-015.
The application deadline is May 29, 2026.
💙 Volunteers Needed to Support Local Seniors
Municipalité de Notre Dame du Nord is looking for volunteers to spend time with elderly residents and help reduce isolation in the community. Even a simple visit or conversation can make a meaningful difference.

⛏️ Cobalt Mining Museum Reopening May 22
The Cobalt Mining Museum will reopen for the season on Friday, May 22. During May and June, the museum will operate Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Expanded summer hours begin in July and August with daily admission from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM, including underground mine tours running daily throughout the summer season.
💚 Zack’s Crib Homeless Prevention Fund — Grant Deadline Approaching
Applications are now being accepted for the Zack’s Crib Homeless Prevention Fund, with grants available for community projects up to $15,000.
Organizations interested in applying can find guidelines and application forms through the Temiskaming Foundation website. The application deadline is May 31.
🚰 Municipal Water System Flushing Scheduled — Temagami
The Ontario Clean Water Agency will be conducting routine flushing of the Municipal Water Distribution System in Temagami this June.
Temagami North flushing is scheduled from June 2 to June 5, while Temagami South is scheduled from June 9 to June 12. During this time, residents may notice temporary water discoloration, sediment, rust, or reduced water pressure.
If discoloured water occurs, residents are advised to wait until flushing is complete, then run cold water taps until the water clears. For questions or concerns, contact the Public Works Department at 705 569 3421 ext. 205.

🌳 Recreation Operations Update — Temiskaming Shores
The City of Temiskaming Shores has released a seasonal recreation update as some spring openings have been delayed due to weather conditions and a late spring.
The Rotary Splash Pad and One Foot Forward Spray Zone are now scheduled to open May 29. Sweeping and bollard installation along the STATO Trail is expected to be completed by May 22.
Outdoor washrooms are expected to open by May 11, while sport courts and playgrounds are already open and available for public use. The City says it appreciates residents’ patience as crews continue preparing facilities for the season.
