Scouts Invite Everyone to Campfire

Pic Credit: Temiskaming Shores Scout Group
The Temiskaming Shores Scout Group is inviting the community to gather around the campfire at the New Liskeard waterfront on Saturday, October 24.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. at the waterfront bandstand on Beach Road, with traditional campfire songs, skits performed by Scouts and an opportunity to learn about local Scouting programs.
Free hot chocolate will be served afterwards at the nearby picnic shelter.
Everyone is welcome, whether they have been involved in Scouting before or are simply looking for a family-friendly evening outdoors.
Visitors should bring a lawn chair and dress for the weather. If conditions are poor, activities will move to the nearby picnic shelter.

When Caring Takes Its Toll

Pic Credit: Temiskaming Hospital
One of the quietest challenges in caring for an aging loved one is depletion. Family caregivers can find themselves exhausting their own energy, health and patience while trying to manage changes behind closed doors.
When confusion, agitation or changes in behaviour become part of daily life, supporting an aging loved one at home takes more than sheer willpower. It takes practical tools and community support.
Temiskaming Hospital is launching Community Classroom, a new educational initiative designed to connect local families with practical guidance and support services.
The first session, Caring for Seniors at Home, takes place Friday, November 13, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Temiskaming Hospital.
Participants will hear from Dr. Don about the changing needs of older adults, including challenges such as confusion, agitation and changes in behaviour. They'll also explore local programs and resources and connect directly with community organizations and professionals who can offer guidance.
The session welcomes family caregivers, friends and anyone interested in supporting older adults.
Registration is available through Eventbrite.

💧 Boil Water Advisory Englehart
The boil water advisory for Englehart, and for residents served by the Englehart drinking water system including connections in Evanturel, remains in effect. The Town of Englehart says well maintenance is continuing this week, and the advisory is expected to be lifted on the afternoon of Thursday, October 22, pending satisfactory bacterial samples.
Until the lift notice is issued, bring tap water to a rolling boil for one full minute before drinking it, cooking, brushing teeth, or making ice, or use bottled water. Please conserve water where possible in the coming weeks while the maintenance continues.
Watch for the notice from the Town of Englehart to lift the advisory later this week.
🍬 Halloween Treat Drive in Latchford
Want to hand out treats this Halloween but cannot be at the door? The Latchford Fire Department is accepting candy and treat donations. Drop them off at the fire department on October 24 between 1:00 and 3:00 PM.
Your donations help make Halloween sweet and safe for local kids.
