Take The Controls Monday

Ever wondered what it's like to operate an excavator or sit behind the wheel of a transport truck?
On Monday, June 22, residents can find out during Demo Day at the 5th Wheel Training Institute in New Liskeard. The free event gives participants the chance to try heavy equipment, test drive a tractor trailer under instructor supervision, and learn what a career in the transportation or construction industries is really like.
Visitors will also be able to meet instructors, ask questions about training programs, and explore funding options that may help cover the cost of a new career. The event takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the North Bay-Timmins Campus, 536 Brazeau Boulevard, New Liskeard Registration is required.
Participants must wear long pants, hard-toe boots, a reflective vest, a hard hat, and safety glasses. Some safety equipment can be borrowed by contacting the institute in advance.

Art In The Park Returns

Summer evenings at Haileybury Harbour Place are about to get a little more creative.
Art in the Park returns for six Wednesday evenings beginning July 1, inviting residents and visitors to enjoy hands-on art activities in one of Temiskaming Shores' most scenic settings.
The free program runs from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on July 1, 8, 22, and 29, as well as August 5 and 12. There will be no Art in the Park on July 15, as organizers will instead be part of Together by the Shore, a four-day celebration marking the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54 Centennial.
Presented through a partnership between the Temiskaming Shores Development Corporation, the Temiskaming Art Gallery, and ARTEM, the program offers a relaxed way for families and community members to explore their creativity while enjoying the waterfront.

Charlton Legion General Meeting — June 22
The Charlton Royal Canadian Legion Branch 227 will hold its next general meeting on Monday, June 22 at 7:00 PM. New members are welcome, and membership is free throughout 2026 as the Royal Canadian Legion celebrates its 100th anniversary.
🌦️ Climate Change Survey — Chance to Win a $200 Gift Card
Temiskaming First Nation and Notre-Dame-du-Nord are inviting residents aged 16 and older to complete a survey on climate change risks and vulnerabilities in the region. The feedback will help support planning efforts aimed at building stronger and more resilient communities.
Participants who complete the survey can enter a draw to win a $200 gift card. Paper copies are also available at the Notre-Dame-du-Nord municipal office.
🏊 Englehart Lee Pool Opening Day - Free Swim June 27
The Englehart Lee Pool will officially open for the season on Saturday, June 27 with a free community swim from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Regular summer swim schedules begin Sunday, June 28. Adult swims run daily from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with open swims from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Fitness swims are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
🎟️ New Liskeard Lions Club Butchers Raffle Supporting Northern Hospice Care
The New Liskeard Lions Club is selling tickets for its Butchers Raffle, with all net proceeds going to Northern Hospice Care. Tickets are $10 each, with the draw taking place September 19 at 12:00 PM during the New Liskeard Fall Fair.
Tickets will be available throughout the summer at the following locations and events:
• Food Basics — July 9 and July 23, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Daily Bread, Temagami — June 20, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Biker Reunion — July 3rd and 4th, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
