Englehart & Area Pickleball - Englehart High School | Thursdays & Fridays, 7:00-9:00 PM | Pickleball for Grade 9 to adults starts September 24 and runs through June. Ages 14-17 must be accompanied by an adult. $15 for the season. Everyone welcome.

Free for youth named on a club family membership and Northern College students; other participants welcome with a $25 insurance fee. Use Door #3.

LeFLOFRANCO Comes to ÉSC Sainte-Marie

Students at École secondaire catholique Sainte-Marie will get a live introduction to Franco-Ontarian hip-hop this Friday.
Ottawa artist LeFLOFRANCO will perform at the school on Friday, September 25 from 10 to 11 a.m. for students in Grades 7 to 12.
Proud of both his Haitian roots and Francophone identity, LeFLOFRANCO describes his music as “multicoloured urban pop,” mixing hip-hop and trap with electro, Caribbean and Haitian influences including reggae-fusion, soca and kompa.
His music also carries messages of perseverance, hope and self-confidence, giving students an opportunity to experience French-language music beyond the classroom.
The visit is part of a wider effort to share Francophone language and culture through music. Merchandise including shirts, vinyl records, tote bags and posters will also be available for students to purchase during the visit.

See Cobalt Through Old Films

A rare look at Cobalt from nearly a century ago will be playing on the big screen Wednesday.
As part of Ontario Culture Days, the Classic Theatre Cobalt will screen historical home movies showing life in Cobalt from the 1920s through the 1950s. The screening runs September 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and admission is free.
The silent footage comes from the collection of Anthony Giacchino, an early Cobalt businessman who once operated an earlier version of the venue that eventually became the Classic Theatre.
His family's films captured some remarkable pieces of local history, including musicians performing in Cobalt's square, a Remembrance Day ceremony at the original Lang Street cenotaph and scenes of fires that damaged much of the town.
Later colour footage takes viewers inside 50 Silver Street, now home to The Lavender Fox, when the building operated as a grocery store and travel agency.
The films will play continuously with background music, so there is no need to arrive at a particular time. Visitors can drop in anytime between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and stay for as much of Cobalt's past as they'd like.
🚧 Sunnyside Road Closure
Sunnyside Road between Lakeshore Road and Phippens Road in Temiskaming Shores will be closed on Thursday, September 24 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for an emergency exercise.
Residents may hear sirens and see emergency lights and simulated smoke during the exercise. There is no threat to public safety. Drivers are asked to use an alternate route during the closure.

🎨 Appreciate Autumn Colouring Contest
The Temiskaming Shores Public Library is holding an Appreciate Autumn Colouring Contest for children ages 3 to 12 from September 19 to October 17.
Children can compete in three age categories: 3–5, 6–8 and 9–12, with a prize for the first-place winner in each group. Colouring pages are available at the library's Reference Desk.
🍔 Arena Concession Operator Wanted
The Town of Englehart is looking for an individual, business, sports group or community organization interested in operating the concession booth at the Englehart Arena for the upcoming season.
The opportunity could be used to run a small business or raise funds for a team or community organization. Proposals must be submitted to Karen Cooke at [email protected] by Friday, September 25 at 2 p.m
💧 Temagami Water System Flushing
The Ontario Clean Water Agency will conduct routine flushing of Temagami’s municipal water system, with revised dates of September 21 to 25 for Temagami South and September 28 to October 2 for Temagami North.
Residents may experience temporary water discolouration, rust or sediment, and reduced water pressure during the work. Once flushing is complete, run a cold-water tap with the aerator removed until the water runs clear.
🧩 Puzzle Exchange Coming to the Library
The Temiskaming Shores Public Library is collecting gently used, complete puzzles from August 31 to September 19 for an upcoming community Puzzle Exchange. For every accepted puzzle, donors will receive one voucher, with a limit of five puzzles per household.
Puzzle Swap Day is Saturday, September 26, with voucher holders choosing puzzles from noon to 2 p.m. The exchange opens to everyone from 2 to 3 p.m., when remaining puzzles can be picked up without a voucher.
