The Temiskaming Foundation Supports Summer Theatre Program

Pic Credit: The Temiskaming Foundation
The Temiskaming Foundation has once again stepped up to support local youth theatre programming with a $5,175 donation to Small Pond Entertainers.
Organizers say the annual support helps provide a quality summer experience for campers while keeping local theatre opportunities alive for young performers across the region.
Board President Emily Amer accepted the cheque on behalf of the organization and thanked The Temiskaming Foundation for continuing to support the program year after year.
Small Pond Entertainers also announced that this summer’s productions will include The Little Mermaid and Legally Blonde, with performances planned for the August 21 weekend.
North Not An Afterthought

Carrie Graham says she went to Queen’s Park this week with one goal: make sure Northern Ontario wasn’t ignored.
The Executive Director of the Temiskaming Shores & Area Chamber of Commerce joined more than 150 Chamber representatives during Ontario Chamber of Commerce Advocacy Day in Toronto, where discussions focused on issues affecting communities and businesses across the province.
But Graham says she made it clear Northern Ontario cannot continue being treated as an afterthought.
She raised concerns about housing shortages, transportation instability, Highway 11 closures, workforce recruitment, and the challenges local employers face trying to attract skilled workers when there is nowhere for them to live.
“I started most conversations asking people, ‘How far north have you travelled in Ontario?’” Graham told Tri Town Today. “And then I would share exactly what they are missing.”
Graham also spoke about the importance of mining, infrastructure investment, and making sure northern communities receive the support needed to sustain economic growth.
