New Thornloe Business Rolling Into Summer

Pic Credit: Kool Treats

For many people, hearing the sound of an ice cream bike coming down the street instantly brings back childhood memories.

That feeling is exactly what inspired Cher Kiff to launch Kool Treats, a new frozen treat bike serving Thornloe, Earlton, and surrounding communities.

After moving north with her husband five years ago, Cher began looking for a part time business she could run on her own schedule. Then one day an idea popped into her head.

An ice cream bike.

"I figured everyone loves ice cream," she laughed.

The idea also brought back memories of the old Dickie Dee bikes that many people remember from their childhoods.

Now those memories are getting a Northern Ontario twist.

This weekend, the bike will be making an appearance at the Thornloe Fur & Feather event at Thornloe Farm Supply.

But Cher's plans go beyond riding neighbourhood streets.

One of the goals for Kool Treats is to be part of local markets, birthday parties, weddings, and community events throughout the region.

Another exciting addition is already in the works. Kool Treats has teamed up with Itsy Bitsy Banners, who will be painting the business logo and custom ice cream artwork directly onto the freezer cart.

If all goes according to plan, residents can expect to see Kool Treats popping up around Thornloe, Earlton, and local events throughout the summer.

To follow the bike's location and see where it will be next, Cher encourages people to follow Kool Treats on Facebook.

Because sometimes the best business ideas are the ones that bring back a little bit of childhood.

We’re always looking to highlight local business, events and stories in the area. If you would like a spotlight on your business then Apply Here.

Scott Street Water Repair Planned for May 29
