Indoor Washer League Could Be Coming To Earlton

Coeur du Village is considering starting an indoor washer league this fall and is looking to see how much interest there is from Earlton and surrounding communities.

The proposed league would run from October through March, offering people from across the area a fun and social activity during the colder months.

Organizers are currently gauging interest before deciding whether to move ahead with planning, and you don't have to live in Earlton to participate.

Interested in joining? Let Coeur du Village know by commenting on their original Facebook post. The more people who respond, the better idea organizers will have of whether there is enough interest to get the league started.

We’re always looking to highlight local business, events and stories in the area. If you would like a spotlight on your business then Apply Here.

Kayla Hits the National Stage

New Liskeard Special Olympics swimmer Kayla Marwick is in Medicine Hat, Alberta, where she is representing Ontario at the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games.

Tri Town Today recently shared Kayla's story following the local Special Olympics banquet, where athletes and volunteers celebrated another successful season and wished Kayla well before her trip west. Now, the competition is underway.

Kayla has been training throughout the year for this opportunity and will compete in several swimming events during the Games.

Her updated schedule for Wednesday, August 12 begins with the 200-metre butterfly final at 10:45 a.m. She will then swim in Heat 5 of the 50-metre freestyle preliminaries at 11:05 a.m., followed by Heat 5 of the 50-metre backstroke preliminaries at 12 p.m.

Later that afternoon, Kayla will represent Team Ontario in the relay at 4:15 p.m.

Her competition continues on Friday, August 14, when she is scheduled to swim in Heat 3 of the 50-metre butterfly preliminaries at 11:11 a.m.

The times for Kayla's final events in the 50-metre races are not yet known, so anyone following along should keep an eye on the Games schedule as the competition progresses.

And local supporters don't have to travel to Alberta to follow Kayla's journey.

The swimming competition is also being livestreamed throughout the Games:

Want to learn more about Kayla? Her official 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games athlete profile is available online, where readers can follow her participation at the Games.
