You May Not Know These Hidden Spots Around Temagami

Pic Credit: @Destination Adventure
A YouTuber, Dustin Porter @Destination Adventure, travelling across Canada recently made an unexpected stop in Temagami — and ended up uncovering something many locals may not even realize is sitting in our own backyard.
The video explores abandoned mines, hidden rail lines, old logging remnants, ghost town traces, flooded mine pits, and even a burned-out safe deep in the bush around the Temagami area.
What’s especially interesting is hearing an outsider react to the region’s history, scenery, and untouched wilderness. At one point, they describe the area as “a gold mine for exploring.”
The video also highlights places tied to the old Sherman Mine, Milne ghost town area, Kenabeek-area mining history, and several forgotten industrial sites scattered through the forest.
Even longtime Northerners may recognize only part of what’s shown.
It’s a reminder that some of the most fascinating places in Northern Ontario are the ones hiding just off the highway.
We’re always looking to highlight local business, events and stories in the area. If you would like a spotlight on your business then Apply Here.

Imaging Registration Changes Continue

Pic Credit: Temiskaming Hospital
Temiskaming Hospital says temporary changes to diagnostic imaging registration will remain in place until at least July 13.
Patients with medical imaging appointments are still being asked to register at the hospital’s main registration desk before proceeding to the Diagnostic Imaging Department. The hospital says OBSP patients are the exception and will continue registering directly in the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
Patients are also being reminded to allow extra time before appointments and to follow posted signs to the appropriate waiting area.
Hospital officials thanked patients for their patience and understanding while the interim process remains in place.
