Forget another day in front of a screen. This summer, local kids can spend the day learning life skills they'll use for years to come.
The City of Temiskaming Shores is hosting its Healthy Kids Cooking Camp for children ages 8 to 12 at Riverside Place. The one-day camp combines hands-on cooking with games, outdoor activities, and lessons about healthy eating in a fun, interactive environment.
Participants will prepare four tasty recipes, build confidence in the kitchen, and discover that healthy food can be both simple and delicious, all while making new friends along the way.
Parents can choose from Tuesday, August 4, Wednesday, August 5, or Thursday, August 6, with each camp running from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Space is limited for each day. To register, contact Alex Leveille at [email protected] or 705-647-5709.

Help Keep Ms. Claybelt Warm

Ms. Claybelt has lost her scarf again, and the Little Claybelt Homesteaders Museum is asking the community to help replace it one colourful square at a time.
The museum has launched a community crochet project to create a 30-foot scarf for its iconic cow statue. Crocheters of all ages and skill levels are invited to make an 8-by-8-inch square using any colours they like. The finished squares will be stitched together into one giant scarf to keep Ms. Claybelt warm in style.
Every square counts, and completed pieces can be dropped off at the museum before August 20.
The project begins just as the Little Claybelt Homesteaders Museum opens for the summer season on Saturday, June 27, at 10 a.m. Visitors can explore newly revamped exhibits while learning more about the area's agricultural history. The museum will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. throughout the summer.
Whether you're an experienced crocheter or picking up a hook for the first time, the museum hopes the community will come together to create something colourful, creative, and uniquely Temiskaming.

Participants who complete the survey can enter a draw to win a $200 gift card. Paper copies are also available at the Notre-Dame-du-Nord municipal office.
