What if your child could spend a week learning to code, design a 3D print, build a LEGO robot and sharpen their photography skills?

That's what's on offer during S.T.E.A.M. Week at Open Studio Libre, running July 27 to 31 in Haileybury.

Designed for children ages 9 and up, the program introduces participants to coding using Raspberry Pi computers, engineering, LEGO robotics, 3D printing, digital drawing, photography and other hands-on activities that blend creativity with technology.

Organizers say the week is geared toward older children because many of the projects are both exciting and challenging. Families can register for the full week or choose individual days.

The camp runs from 9 a.m. at 400 Ferguson Avenue in Haileybury(Haileybury Arena), and participants are asked to bring a lunch and water bottle each day.

For pre-teens who enjoy building, creating, solving problems or exploring technology, S.T.E.A.M. Week offers a chance to discover new skills in a fun, hands-on environment.

Northern College alumni who sign up for Alumni Perks by September 1, 2026 will be entered for a chance to win a Sleeping with the Wolves getaway at Cedar Meadows in Timmins.

The prize includes a one-night stay in the Sleeping with the Wolves cabin and a $150 gift card for Cedar Meadows Steakhouse. Alumni can register through the Northern College Alumni Perks program before the deadline.

A precautionary boil water advisory will be in effect for Englehart beginning Monday, July 20, while work is completed at the Town's Water Treatment Plant.

Residents should bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before drinking, preparing food, brushing teeth or making ice. The advisory will remain in effect until the Town of Englehart and Northeastern Public Health announce it has been lifted.

Registration is now open for the 2026 Baby Contest, taking place Saturday, September 19 at 11:00 AM on the Entertainment Stage inside the Horne Granite Curling Club.

The contest is open to babies from newborn to 12 months old, born between September 1, 2025 and August 31, 2026. Registration is required by August 31, with prizes awarded at the end of the contest.
