Get Your Bike Summer Ready

Want to spend less time fixing your bike and more time riding it this summer?

Planet Youth, in partnership with Bike Temiskaming, is hosting a free Bicycle Repair Workshop during Day in the Park on Saturday, June 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Englehart Centennial Park.

Whether you're learning the basics or looking to improve your maintenance skills, experienced bicycle mechanics will be on hand to teach everything from fixing a flat tire and adjusting gears to cleaning chains, greasing bearings, and straightening a wobbling wheel.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own bikes, ask questions, and get hands-on help. Bike repair stands, tools, and some parts and supplies will be available during the workshop.

Everyone is welcome, making it a great opportunity to build confidence, learn a new skill, and get your bike ready for a summer of riding.

Latchford Boil Water Advisory Lifted

Residents of Latchford can once again drink their tap water without boiling it first.

The Town of Latchford has announced that the Boil Water Advisory has officially been lifted after water sample results confirmed the municipal drinking water system is safe for consumption.

As a precaution, residents are encouraged to:

Run cold water taps for 10 minutes before using the water.
Run drinking fountains for 10 minutes before use.
Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle.
Drain and refill hot water heaters set below 45°C (a normal setting is 60°C).

Town officials thanked residents for their patience and cooperation while the advisory was in effect and throughout the recent water system upgrades.

Free Canada Day Bus Service

Planning to head out for Canada Day celebrations? Temiskaming Transit is making it easier to get around with extra service and free late-night rides.

On Wednesday, July 1, transit will operate on a weekend schedule, with an additional bus running from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Riders can also take advantage of free bus service after 10:00 p.m., including a special 10:45 p.m. departure from PFC following the fireworks. The final bus leaves Walmart at 10:20 p.m. and arrives in Cobalt at 11:00 p.m.

Regular service will operate on June 30, July 2, 3, and 6. Weekend service will also be in effect on July 4 and 5, with an additional bus running from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on July 4.

Whether you're heading to the festivities or home afterward, the expanded holiday schedule offers a safe and convenient way to travel during the Canada Day weekend.

🚌 Canada Day Holiday Transit Schedule

Temiskaming Transit will operate a modified schedule during the Canada Day holiday period. Weekend service will run on July 1, 4 and 5, with regular service on all other days from June 30 to July 6.

Additional buses will operate from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM on July 1 and July 4. On Canada Day, rides after 10:00 PM are free, with a bus departing PFC at 10:45 PM following the fireworks. The last bus leaves Walmart at 10:20 PM and arrives in Cobalt at 11:00 PM.

🌦️ Climate Change Survey — Chance to Win a $200 Gift Card

Temiskaming First Nation and Notre-Dame-du-Nord are inviting residents aged 16 and older to complete a survey on climate change risks and vulnerabilities in the region. The feedback will help support planning efforts aimed at building stronger and more resilient communities.

Participants who complete the survey can enter a draw to win a $200 gift card. Paper copies are also available at the Notre-Dame-du-Nord municipal office.

🏊 Englehart Lee Pool Opening Day - Free Swim June 27

The Englehart Lee Pool will officially open for the season on Saturday, June 27 with a free community swim from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Regular summer swim schedules begin Sunday, June 28. Adult swims run daily from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with open swims from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Fitness swims are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

🎟️ New Liskeard Lions Club Butchers Raffle Supporting Northern Hospice Care

The New Liskeard Lions Club is selling tickets for its Butchers Raffle, with all net proceeds going to Northern Hospice Care. Tickets are $10 each, with the draw taking place September 19 at 12:00 PM during the New Liskeard Fall Fair.

Tickets will be available throughout the summer at the following locations and events:


• Food Basics — July 9 and July 23, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Daily Bread, Temagami — June 20, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
