From Home Business To Community Hub

What began in a small room at her parents' home has grown into one of Temiskaming Shores' newest community gathering places.

LaDonna House officially celebrated its grand opening this week, marking the latest milestone in owner Brooke Leveille's 10-year journey from newly graduated esthetician to business owner.

After starting her business from home, Leveille eventually opened a small storefront and spent the next decade steadily growing her vision while raising four children. Along the way, that vision evolved from creating a spa into building a welcoming space where people could relax, connect, shop, enjoy a coffee or lunch, and spend time together.

Named in honour of her grandmother, Donna, LaDonna House now offers a variety of wellness and beauty services, including registered massage therapy, facials, manicures, pedicures, laser hair removal, waxing, piercings, and microblading.

Surrounded by family, friends, customers, and members of the Temiskaming Shores & Area Chamber of Commerce, Leveille officially cut the ribbon this week, celebrating not just the opening of a new business but the realization of a dream more than 10 years in the making.

"…a place built on family, community, and making people feel at home," Leveille said. source: LaDonna House Facebook Post

AC15 Pump Track Gains Momentum

What started as an idea is quickly becoming one of the most exciting recreation projects on the horizon for Temiskaming Shores.

Community partners recently gathered to hear the latest plans for the AC15 Pump Track, a proposed all-wheel recreation facility designed for bikes, scooters, skateboards, wheelchairs, and more. If completed, organizers say it will become a year-round destination for riders of all ages and abilities.

The information session highlighted growing support from local businesses, community organizations, and volunteers who are helping move the project toward construction. Organizers thanked partners including the Frog's Breath Foundation, The Temiskaming Foundation, the AC15 Hockey Tournament, STATO, the City of Temiskaming Shores, and Canadian Ramp Company for helping advance the vision.

Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2027.

Those leading the project believe the pump track has the potential to become much more than a recreational facility. They see it as a place where families gather, young people stay active, and visitors discover another reason to stop in Temiskaming Shores.

Residents or businesses interested in supporting the project can contact Linda St. Cyr at [email protected] or 705-648-5666.
