Fire Ban Now In Effect

A municipal fire ban is now in effect across the City of Temiskaming Shores and the Township of Harris because of the extreme forest fire danger in the area.

Effective July 15, all burning permits have been suspended and all open-air fires are prohibited, including fires used for cooking and warmth.

Residents are being asked to use approved alternatives such as propane stoves or charcoal barbecues designed for cooking instead of open fires.

Fire officials are asking everyone to respect the ban to help reduce the risk of wildfires during the current dry conditions.

The fire ban will remain in place until conditions improve and officials determine it is safe to lift the restrictions.

Englehart Urges Water Conservation

Pic Credit: Town of Englehart

The Town of Englehart is asking residents to conserve water until further notice as demand has exceeded what the water treatment plant can currently produce.

Residents are being asked to avoid all non-essential water use, including watering lawns and gardens, washing vehicles, filling pools or hot tubs, and other unnecessary indoor and outdoor water use.

Town officials say reducing water consumption now will help protect the community's water supply during this critical period.

The Town will continue monitoring the situation and provide updates as they become available.

Residents are thanked for doing their part to help conserve water.
