Pink Run & Walk Returning to Dymond Ball Park on May 9

Runners and walkers of all ages are being invited to lace up and wear pink as the Pink Run & Walk returns to Dymond Ball Park on Saturday, May 9.

Part of the 2026 Get Active Temiskaming Run/Walk Series, the event begins at 9:30 am and welcomes participants of all experience levels. Distances include 1K, 2K, 5K, 10K, and 15K options, giving families, casual walkers, and competitive runners a chance to take part.

This year’s event is focused on celebrating moms and mother figures, with organizers encouraging participants to dress in pink for a chance to win prizes.

Beyond the run itself, the event also supports several local organizations, including the Temiskaming Shores Girl Guides, the Temiskaming Nordic Ski Club Race Team, and the Temiskaming Northern Loons Swim Club.

Paws Across Timiskaming will also be on-site during the event with cats and dogs available for adoption.

Organizers say the goal is to create a fun and welcoming atmosphere while helping support local groups and encouraging healthy activity in the community.

Registration is available online through Get Active Temiskaming, with same-day registration also offered for an additional fee.

Cobalt Seed Library Returns for Spring Planting Season

Pic Credit: Cobalt Library

As gardening season begins across the region, the Cobalt Public Library is once again inviting residents to stop by and pick up free seeds through its community Seed Library program.

Available to residents of Cobalt, Coleman, and Latchford, the program works much like a traditional library, allowing people to “borrow” seeds to grow at home throughout the spring and summer months.

Participants can access the Seed Library by bringing a valid library card, while new visitors can sign up using valid identification.

Organizers say the program is built around community sharing and sustainability, encouraging gardeners to take only the seeds they plan to use and return seeds from successful harvests at the end of the season to help keep the library stocked for future growers.

The initiative is designed to make gardening more accessible while helping strengthen local food growing and community connections.

With planting season now underway, the Seed Library offers a simple way for residents to try growing vegetables, herbs, and flowers while taking part in a shared community effort.

Be On The Look Out!

You’re going to start seeing this guy around.

We call him the Tri Town Guide.

We’re going to be launching a simple game on Facebook called Find the Guide. On certain days we’ll post a photo somewhere around the Tri Town. The Guide will be in that photo. Your job will be to figure out where it is.

You’ll drop your guess in the comment, and every correct answer will count as an entry. We’ll draw a winner each week and feature them in the newsletter. Local businesses will be part of it too, so prizes will come from right here in the community.

It’s meant to be simple. Something quick, something fun, something that makes you look at the tri town area a little differently.

We’re not launching it just yet. We want to build this up properly first. But it’s coming soon.

So for now, just keep an eye out.

Because once the Guide starts showing up, you’ll know it’s time to play.
