Cobalt the Dog Colouring Contest - Cobalt Mining Museum | September 18-October 4 | Pick up a colouring sheet and enter the museum’s Cobalt the Dog contest. Artists over 14 can submit original artwork featuring Cobalt the Dog or their own dog. Prizes available, with winners announced October 5.

Englehart & Area Pickleball - Englehart High School | Thursdays & Fridays, 7:00-9:00 PM | Pickleball for Grade 9 to adults starts September 24 and runs through June. Ages 14-17 must be accompanied by an adult. $15 for the season. Everyone welcome.

Three days of livestock shows, agricultural competitions, exhibits, local entertainment and longtime traditions are coming to the New Liskeard Fairgrounds. Here’s your day-by-day guide to the 2026 New Liskeard Fall Fair, September 17–19.

Friday, September 18
Friday puts young fairgoers in the spotlight with the traditional Kids' Parade, while the agricultural side of the fair continues with horse, dairy and sheep competitions. The evening brings Western Games and the Harvest Queen finals.

Dog Days Come to TAG

Dogs are taking over the Temiskaming Art Gallery, at least on the walls, for a special Ontario Culture Days exhibition beginning Sunday.
Dog Days at TAG celebrates local dogs through paintings, sculptures, photography and other artwork created by members of the community.
The exhibition kicks off with a free opening reception Sunday, September 20 from noon to 4 p.m. at the gallery, 325 Farr Drive in Haileybury. And this is one art opening where your dog is invited too.
Visitors can bring their pups along for some unusual activities, including dog age and weight guessing and dog portraits with a twist. Ontario Culture Days memorabilia will be available for those who participate, along with dog-themed artwork, food and drinks.
Can't make Sunday's opening? Dog Days at TAG will remain on display through October 3.
It's a chance to see some familiar four-legged faces celebrated as works of art and perhaps bring your own dog along for the fun.

Thunder Girls Rep Tryouts

Young basketball players from across the area will have a chance to compete for a spot on a Temiskaming Thunder girls rep team as tryouts begin next week.
Thunder is holding tryouts for U17 Girls and a younger U13/U14 Girls team. The final level for the younger team will be determined by registration numbers, ages and player development.

The U13/U14 group, for athletes born from 2013 to 2016, will try out from 6 to 7:15 p.m. The U17 group, for players born from 2010 to 2012, takes the court from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m.
Three tryout sessions are scheduled:
Monday, September 21 at Englehart High School
Wednesday, September 23 at TDSS
Wednesday, September 30 at TDSS
Players must complete the Rep Interest Form before attending and participate in at least two of the three tryouts to be eligible for team selection.
Thunder says there is still time for interested players to sign up before tryouts begin Monday.

Opportunity at Englehart Arena
The Town of Englehart is looking for someone to take over the concession booth at the Englehart Arena Complex for the upcoming season.
The opportunity is open to individuals and groups and could appeal to a new entrepreneur, existing business, sports team or community organization looking to operate a small business or create a seasonal fundraising opportunity.
The successful applicant would lease and operate the concession for six months, from October 19, 2026 to March 25, 2027, primarily during the arena's peak hours. The arena is used for hockey and skating seven days a week.
Some equipment is already provided, including a double-door Coke cooler, small freezer, hot dog roller, coffee maker and nacho chip warmer. The Town also covers water, garbage and recycling, hydro and public Wi-Fi.
The concession is for the sale of food and beverages, with alcohol prohibited. The successful operator will also need to meet food-handling, insurance and other requirements outlined in the Town's Request for Proposal.
Interested applicants have until 2 p.m. Friday, September 25 to submit a proposal. Questions can be directed to Recreation and Community Services Manager Karen Cooke at 705-544-2244 ext. 5 or [email protected].
For someone who's been thinking about trying a small food business, or a local group looking for a different fundraising opportunity, this could be an interesting way to test an idea while serving the arena crowd.
🍔 Arena Concession Operator Wanted
The Town of Englehart is looking for an individual, business, sports group or community organization interested in operating the concession booth at the Englehart Arena for the upcoming season.
The opportunity could be used to run a small business or raise funds for a team or community organization. Proposals must be submitted to Karen Cooke at [email protected] by Friday, September 25 at 2 p.m
💧 Temagami Water System Flushing
The Ontario Clean Water Agency will conduct routine flushing of Temagami’s municipal water system, with revised dates of September 21 to 25 for Temagami South and September 28 to October 2 for Temagami North.
Residents may experience temporary water discolouration, rust or sediment, and reduced water pressure during the work. Once flushing is complete, run a cold-water tap with the aerator removed until the water runs clear.
🧩 Puzzle Exchange Coming to the Library
The Temiskaming Shores Public Library is collecting gently used, complete puzzles from August 31 to September 19 for an upcoming community Puzzle Exchange. For every accepted puzzle, donors will receive one voucher, with a limit of five puzzles per household.
Puzzle Swap Day is Saturday, September 26, with voucher holders choosing puzzles from noon to 2 p.m. The exchange opens to everyone from 2 to 3 p.m., when remaining puzzles can be picked up without a voucher.
💻 Digital Literacy Sessions
The Temiskaming Shores Public Library offers Digital Literacy Sessions on Thursdays by appointment for anyone looking for help using a smartphone, tablet or laptop.
Residents can get one-on-one assistance and learn more about using their devices. To book a session or get more information, call 705-647-4215.
