Build Your Own Planter

Residents will have the chance to design their own custom flower planter or patio garden this Saturday during a hands-on workshop at the Riverside Farmers Market.

The event is being hosted by Sunshine and Shade Greenhouses in partnership with Shalom Farms and runs June 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Participants will be able to choose from a variety of planters and create their own vegetable, herb, or flower arrangement with help from staff on site. Organizers say guidance will be available on planter design, plant selection, and ongoing care.

The workshop is open to ages 3 to 103, and custom planters will range from approximately $20 to $40 depending on the design selected.

Organizers say the event is designed to be both educational and fun while helping people create something beautiful for their deck, patio, or yard.

Does Temiskaming Shores Need A Rebrand?

The City of Temiskaming Shores is working with Cinnamon Toast Media Inc. on a new brand identity project and is asking residents to help shape the future image of the community.

A public survey launching June 12 asks residents to share their thoughts on what makes Temiskaming Shores unique and how the city should present itself moving forward.

According to the City, the project aims to reflect the area’s natural beauty, cultural diversity, community pride, and role as a regional hub while also supporting tourism, economic development, investment attraction, and population growth.

But the announcement is also raising questions from some residents, including whether the city truly needs a rebrand, what sparked the initiative, how much the project will cost, and what the final branding could eventually look like.

The survey remains open until June 30 and the City says all responses will remain confidential.

Residents can complete the survey here:
