Photo Contest Invites Residents to Capture ‘Lake Temiskaming Blue’

Residents of Temiskaming Shores are being invited to showcase the beauty of summer on Lake Temiskaming through a new photo contest celebrating the region’s iconic blue waters.

The “Show Us Your Lake Temiskaming Blue” contest is calling on locals to submit their best photos that capture the essence of summer in the area—especially those calm, mirror-like lake days where the water reflects the sky in vivid detail.

Organizers say the goal is to highlight what makes Temiskaming Shores special while building a collection of authentic, locally captured images that may be used in future tourism promotions.

Participants are encouraged to submit photos that reflect the season’s natural beauty, from bright blue skies and still water to those moments that truly capture the feeling of summer along the lake.

As an added incentive, one participant will be entered to win a $100 gift card to 28 on the Lake, giving locals another reason to get outside and start snapping photos.

Submissions are open now, with a deadline of April 28, 2026 at 11:59 PM.

Photos can be uploaded through the official entry form:
https://forms.temiskamingshores.ca/Eco-Dev/Photo

With summer just around the corner, the contest is a chance for residents to share their perspective of the community—and show others what makes Lake Temiskaming truly unforgettable.

Kiwetin Kikinamading Grade 8 Students Complete Buffalo Riders Wellness Program

A group of Grade 8 students at Kiwetin Kikinamading are being recognized after successfully completing the Buffalo Riders Program, a 10-week initiative focused on wellness, prevention, and personal growth supported by Timiskaming First Nation Health & Wellness Centre.

The program, held once a week over the course of ten weeks, gave students the opportunity to explore a range of important topics that support both mental and emotional well-being. Sessions focused on areas such as emotional awareness, healthy decision-making, identity, coping strategies, and building resilience—skills that are increasingly important for youth navigating today’s challenges.

Beyond the structured lessons, the program also created space for open and meaningful group discussions. These conversations helped students build stronger connections with one another while encouraging positive self-reflection and growth.

The program was led by Adriane McLean, an NNADAP Worker, whose guidance and support played a key role in its success. School staff expressed appreciation for the time, care, and knowledge she brought to each session, noting the impact it had on participating students.

Students showed strong engagement throughout the program, and their commitment did not go unnoticed. School leaders say they are proud of how the group embraced the experience and the personal development that came from it.

Programs like Buffalo Riders continue to highlight the importance of investing in youth wellness and creating supportive environments where students can grow both individually and together.

Riverside Farmers’ Market Returns May 16 with Full 2026 Schedule

The Riverside Farmers’ Market is getting ready to welcome shoppers back for another season along the waterfront, with the full 2026 schedule now officially released.

Running every Saturday from May 16 through October 31, the market will once again take place at Riverside Place from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, offering residents and visitors a consistent spot to shop local throughout the warmer months.

Known for its mix of fresh produce, homemade goods, and handcrafted items, the market continues to be a staple in the Temiskaming Shores community—bringing together local farmers, artisans, and small businesses in one place.

Organizers say the goal remains simple: create a space where the community can support local vendors while enjoying a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

There are a couple of dates to keep in mind this season:

No market on July 4 due to the Bikers Reunion
No market on September 19 due to the Fall Fair

Outside of those two Saturdays, the market will run weekly through the end of October.

As the season approaches, vendors and organizers are looking forward to another strong year of community support and local engagement.

For many, the Riverside Farmers’ Market has become more than just a place to shop—it’s a Saturday morning tradition.

Game Coming Soon!

Be On The Look Out!

You’re going to start seeing this guy around.

We call him the Tri Town Guide.

We’re going to be launching a simple game on Facebook called Find the Guide. On certain days we’ll post a photo somewhere around the Tri Town. The Guide will be in that photo. Your job will be to figure out where it is.

You’ll drop your guess in the comment, and every correct answer will count as an entry. We’ll draw a winner each week and feature them in the newsletter. Local businesses will be part of it too, so prizes will come from right here in the community.

It’s meant to be simple. Something quick, something fun, something that makes you look at the tri town area a little differently.

We’re not launching it just yet. We want to build this up properly first. But it’s coming soon.

So for now, just keep an eye out.

Because once the Guide starts showing up, you’ll know it’s time to play.
