Corn mazes, apple slingshots, pumpkins and campfires are all part of Fall Fun Days at Aidie Creek Gardens, beginning Saturday, September 19.

The fall attraction, located about 10 minutes north of Englehart, centres around a three-acre corn maze, but there's plenty to do once you find your way out. Families can tackle the Aidie Creek Ninja Warrior course, climb the straw bale jungle gym, try pumpkin bowling or test their aim with the giant apple slingshots.

Visitors can also gather around the campfire and bring their own hot dogs or marshmallows to roast. New this year is a snack bar with hot chocolate, coffee, popcorn and mini donuts, with Pita Pit also available.

Fall Fun Days run primarily weekends from September 19 through October 31, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with additional dates for PD days, Thanksgiving Monday and a Special Needs Day on October 7.

For a different challenge, Maze Nights are planned for October 10, 17 and 24 from 7 to 10 p.m., weather permitting. It's not haunted. The fun is simply trying to navigate the corn maze after dark.

Admission is $17 per person, with children under two free, and includes two apple slingshot shots. Pumpkins, food and additional slingshot shots are extra.

Aidie Creek Gardens is located at 487413 Aidie Creek Garden Road, about two minutes off Highway 11 north of Englehart. Daytime events run rain or shine, and pets are not permitted except for service animals.

Cobalt's mining history may usually get the spotlight, but this time the museum wants to hear about some of the area's four-legged residents.

The Cobalt Mining Museum is collecting photos of dogs from Cobalt, Coleman and the surrounding area for a community collage being created as part of this year's Ontario Culture Days.

The museum is asking residents to send a favourite photo of their dog, along with the dog's name if they'd like it included. Current and former four-legged residents are welcome, with the photos becoming part of an ongoing “Dogs of Cobalt” collage.

The project will run throughout Culture Days, September 18 to October 4, so there's still time to participate even if a photo isn't submitted before opening day.

The Ontario Clean Water Agency will conduct routine flushing of Temagami’s municipal water system, with revised dates of September 21 to 25 for Temagami South and September 28 to October 2 for Temagami North.

Residents may experience temporary water discolouration, rust or sediment, and reduced water pressure during the work. Once flushing is complete, run a cold-water tap with the aerator removed until the water runs clear.

The Temiskaming Shores Public Library is collecting gently used, complete puzzles from August 31 to September 19 for an upcoming community Puzzle Exchange. For every accepted puzzle, donors will receive one voucher, with a limit of five puzzles per household.

Puzzle Swap Day is Saturday, September 26, with voucher holders choosing puzzles from noon to 2 p.m. The exchange opens to everyone from 2 to 3 p.m., when remaining puzzles can be picked up without a voucher.

The Temiskaming Shores Public Library offers Digital Literacy Sessions on Thursdays by appointment for anyone looking for help using a smartphone, tablet or laptop.
