Bring Your Art to Life at the Library

A drawing doesn't usually move when you do. This week at the Temiskaming Shores Public Library, it can.
The library is partnering with Pied Piper Kidshows for a free Immersive 3D Projection Play experience on September 9 and 10, where participants can turn their own drawings and pictures into interactive digital creations.
Participants can create a character or scene and then see it projected into a virtual play space. Using body movement, they can interact with and make the artwork move, while friends can join in and play with the creations too.
You don't necessarily have to attend in person to participate. Artwork can also be submitted online, and those unable to visit the library can have their character or scene incorporated into the project. The artist can even provide a video showing the submitted creation in action.
The experience is completely free and is designed as a collaborative art project, allowing creations from different participants to become part of the same interactive space.
The project is supported by the Ontario Arts Council and the Government of Ontario.
Those interested can drop by the Temiskaming Shores Public Library in New Liskeard on September 9 or 10 to experience the interactive artwork in person.

Carter’s Coop Keeps Growing

Pic Credit: Enterprise Temiskaming
A summer business project is turning into something longer-term for one young local entrepreneur.
Carter’s Coop has successfully completed the Summer Company Program through Enterprise Temiskaming, after spending the summer building a youth-owned farm business selling fresh eggs and broiler chickens directly to local customers.
Carter has focused on raising his poultry with care while learning what it takes to operate a small agricultural business, from caring for the birds to building a customer base and selling his products.
But the end of summer doesn't mean the end of Carter’s Coop.
With Carter returning to high school, he plans to continue operating the business on a reduced schedule, allowing him to balance school with the farm business he started this summer.
Customers can continue following Carter’s Coop on Facebook for egg availability, ordering information and updates from the farm.
It’s a pretty impressive way to head back to school: with a summer of entrepreneurship behind him and a business he plans to keep growing.

The New Liskeard Fall Fair is coming up September 17 to 19, and there is a way to save a few dollars if you're planning to attend.
The New Liskeard Fall Fair and Temiskaming Shores & Area Chamber of Commerce are offering advance passes and ride wristbands through the Fall Fair Corporate Program.
A day gate pass is $10 in advance, compared with $12 at the fair, while a weekend gate pass is $20, compared with $25. An Amaze N Fun Ride-All-Day wristband is also $20 in advance, compared with $25 at the event.
Children 12 and under are admitted to the fairgrounds free.
Despite being called the Corporate Program, the order form includes space for an individual or company name, and notes that day and weekend gate passes are eligible for the Attendance Draw when redeemed at the fair gate.
Orders and payment must be received by the Chamber no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday, September 16. Passes can then be picked up at the Chamber office during regular office hours, Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Completed forms can be emailed to [email protected] or dropped off at the Chamber office.
The New Liskeard Fall Fair runs Thursday, September 17 through Saturday, September 19.
