🍟The Fry Pit Crowned Tri Towns' Fry Champion

After days of voting and plenty of passionate debate, readers of Tri Town Today have spoken. The Fry Pit has officially been crowned the winner of the inaugural Tri Town Today Best Fries Poll.

Owner Linda Gagne and team member Emily recently accepted a commemorative certificate recognizing the achievement and celebrating the community support that helped secure the victory.

The Fry Pit earned a commanding lead throughout the poll, proving that when it comes to fries in the Tri Towns, they have built a loyal following.

Linda shared her appreciation after receiving the award:

"Thank you so much! We are incredibly honoured and grateful to have been chosen as Best Fries of the Tri-Towns 2026. The support from our community means so much to us."

Tri Town Today would like to thank everyone who participated in the poll and all the local restaurants that inspired such enthusiastic discussion. The competition for second place was fierce, but The Fry Pit left little doubt about who claimed the top spot.

A Bucket of Swamp Water May Have Saved Loon Lake Community

According to Chitaroni's Portage Bay Lodge what started as an evening drive could have become a very different story for the Loon Lake community.

While travelling along Portage Bay Road, Mitch Coe and his wife Marcy spotted a fire burning approximately 4 to 6 feet high near the entrance to the Loon Lake area. With strong winds and dry debris nearby, the situation had the potential to escalate quickly.

Without hesitation, Mitch grabbed a large bucket from his truck and began hauling swamp water to knock down the flames while Marcy called the Coleman Fire Department.

It appears a fallen tree may have come into contact with a power line, sparking a ground fire in the surrounding brush. Firefighters and Hydro crews later arrived to secure the scene.

Residents are crediting the couple's quick thinking and immediate action with helping prevent what could have become a much more serious situation.

Sometimes heroes don't wear capes. Sometimes they carry buckets.

Thank you, Mitch and Marcy, for looking out for your community. 🚒🔥❤️
