  • Temagami Lions Club Annual Steak Fry Fundraiser - Temagami Arena | 6:00-8:00 PM | Enjoy a steak dinner with all the fixings while supporting local community projects. Admission: $40 per plate

  • Temiskaming First Nation Pow Wow - TFN Pow Wow Grounds | 8:00 AM | Experience Grand Entry, intertribal dancing, exhibitions, special dances, a community feast and evening social dancing.

Aug 9th

  • Temiskaming First Nation Pow Wow - TFN Pow Wow Grounds | 8:00 AM | Watch Grand Entry, enjoy intertribal dancing and exhibitions, and take part in the Deep Water Singers Blanket Dance before the closing ceremonies.

Aug 10th

  • Paws in the Sand Beach Volleyball Tournament - New Liskeard Beach Volleyball Courts | Form a co-ed team of four to compete in this fundraiser supporting Paws Across Timiskaming. Registration closes August 10.

Aug 12th

  • Corn Roast Fundraiser | Coeur du Village, 18-10E St., Earlton | 5:00-7:00 PM | Enjoy fresh corn on the cob for $2 each, with beverages available for purchase, while supporting a Coeur du Village fundraiser.

Aug 13th

  • Harry's Hoodlums Day Camp: Nature's Playground | Museum of Northern History | Ages 5-9 | Young explorers will discover nature through outdoor games, activities and creative play during this themed day camp. Registration required. $40 (+tax), with members receiving 20% off.

  • Movie: Zootopia 2 - Armstrong Township Public Library | 1:30 PM | Enjoy an afternoon showing of Zootopia 2

  • Colour Ride - Pool & Fitness Centre, 77 Wellington St. | 3:00-5:00 PM | Bike or walk 2 km along the STATO Trail while passing through colourful powder stations. Pre-registration is required and helmets are mandatory.

  • Community Garage Sale - Royal Canadian Legion Branch 227 | 8:00 AM-5:00 PM | Browse a variety of second-hand treasures while supporting the Legion. Rain dates are August 22 and 23.

  • Hummingbird Garden Party | Hilliardton Marsh | 9:00 AM-12:00 PM | See hummingbirds up close, dip for pond critters, tour the gardens and enjoy a tea party. No pre-registration required. Admission: Members $10, non-members $15, kids free.

  • Community Garage Sale - Royal Canadian Legion Branch 227 | 8:00 AM-5:00 PM | Browse a variety of second-hand treasures while supporting the Legion. Rain dates are August 22 and 23.

Aug 18th

  • Movie: Hoppers - Armstrong Township Public Library | 1:30 PM | Watch Disney Pixar's Hoppers during an afternoon movie matinee

Aug 20th

  • Music on the Shores - New Liskeard Riverside Place | 1:00-3:00 PM | Listen to live performances by Brigid Wilkinson and Glenn Scott during this free waterfront concert.

Back-to-School Backpack Program

Keepers of the Circle is helping local families prepare for the new school year with its Back-to-School Backpack Program.

Beginning August 5, registered members can apply to receive a backpack filled with school supplies for children and youth. Supplies are available in limited quantities and will be distributed while they last.

Families must be registered members to qualify. Those selected will be contacted when their backpack is ready for pickup.

Business Award Nominations Open

The Temiskaming Shores & Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for the 2025/26 Business Awards Gala, presented by Agnico Eagle.

The gala will be held on Thursday, October 22, bringing together businesses, community leaders and residents for an evening of networking, food, music and recognition. The event celebrates the people, organizations and businesses that help make the Temiskaming area a great place to live and work.

Residents are encouraged to nominate deserving businesses, organizations or community leaders before the August 31 deadline. Nominations can be submitted online or by picking up a paper nomination form at the Chamber office.

Ticket sales for the Business Awards Gala will be announced in the coming weeks.

🛍️ Vendor Tables Available

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 227 is looking for vendors for its Community Garage Sale on August 15 and 16, with table rentals available for $20.

Vendors must bring their own table, and all table rental proceeds support the Legion. To reserve a space, contact June at 705-498-3879.

🥞 Legion Breakfast Returns

Haileybury Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54 is bringing back its popular breakfast this Saturday Aug 8th and Sunday Aug 9th only, served from 7 a.m. to noon.

Enjoy a full breakfast for $12 for adults and $6 for children, with all your favourites plus a few delicious extras.

🧲 Magnet Fishing Week

The Armstrong Township Public Library is hosting Magnet Fishing Week from August 10 to 15, inviting visitors to try their luck at catching magnetic fish for a chance to win prizes.

The free activity is open throughout the week at the library and is part of its ongoing 50th anniversary celebrations.

🤠 Rodeo Colouring Contest

Children 13 and under can enter the New Liskeard RAM Rodeo Colouring Contest for a chance to win before the rodeo rides into town.

Pick up a colouring sheet at New Liskeard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram or print one online, then return it by Thursday, August 13 at 1:30 p.m. The New Liskeard RAM Rodeo takes place August 15 and 16.

🌱 4-H Discovery Day Registration Open

Registration is now open for 4-H Temiskaming Discovery Day, a free hands-on event for youth ages 6 to 12 on Saturday, August 29 at Kerns Hall.

The event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and is open to both 4-H members and non-members. Registration is limited to the first 20 participants, so families are encouraged to sign up early.

🎨 Summer Reading Colouring Contest

The Temiskaming Shores Public Library is inviting children ages 3 to 12 to take part in its TD Summer Reading Club Colouring Contest.

The contest runs from July 22 to August 12, with first-place prizes awarded in each age category. Pick up a colouring sheet at the library and submit your entry before the deadline.
