Harry's Hoodlums Day Camp: Inventor's Lab | Museum of Northern History | Ages 5-9 | Kids can spend the day designing, building and experimenting through hands-on activities at this Inventor's Lab themed camp. Registration required. $40 (+tax), with members receiving 20% off.
Music on the Shores - Haileybury Harbourfront | 1:00-3:00 PM | Enjoy a free waterfront concert featuring Carl Falls and Dark Suns as part of the City's All Age Friendly Program.

Temagami Lions Club Annual Steak Fry Fundraiser - Temagami Arena | 6:00-8:00 PM | Enjoy a steak dinner with all the fixings while supporting local community projects. Admission: $40 per plate

Harry's Hoodlums Day Camp: Nature's Playground | Museum of Northern History | Ages 5-9 | Young explorers will discover nature through outdoor games, activities and creative play during this themed day camp. Registration required. $40 (+tax), with members receiving 20% off.
Movie: Zootopia 2 - Armstrong Township Public Library | 1:30 PM | Enjoy an afternoon showing of Zootopia 2
Colour Ride - Pool & Fitness Centre, 77 Wellington St. | 3:00-5:00 PM | Bike or walk 2 km along the STATO Trail while passing through colourful powder stations. Pre-registration is required and helmets are mandatory.

Community Garage Sale - Royal Canadian Legion Branch 227 | 8:00 AM-5:00 PM | Browse a variety of second-hand treasures while supporting the Legion. Rain dates are August 22 and 23.
Hummingbird Garden Party | Hilliardton Marsh | 9:00 AM-12:00 PM | See hummingbirds up close, dip for pond critters, tour the gardens and enjoy a tea party. No pre-registration required. Admission: Members $10, non-members $15, kids free.

A Weekend of Tradition and Celebration

The Timiskaming First Nation Traditional Pow Wow returns August 8 and 9, bringing together culture, dancing, drumming and community for a weekend of celebration. This year's event also includes a fundraiser that gives supporters the chance to win more than $1,000 in prizes.
The grand prize package features a 36-inch Blackstone Grill, accessories, a cover and a gift card from Yves Prime Cut Meats, making it everything needed for the perfect backyard barbecue. Tickets are $20 each and will be available for purchase at the Pow Wow grounds throughout the weekend. The winning ticket will be drawn on August 9.

The Pow Wow begins Saturday with the Baby Welcoming Ceremony at 11:30 a.m., followed by the Grand Entry at noon, intertribal dancing, exhibitions, special dances, a community feast and evening social dancing. Sunday's schedule includes another Grand Entry at noon, more dancing and exhibitions, a blanket dance and the closing flag retirement ceremony and giveaway.
Visitors travelling from out of town can also take advantage of rough camping at the TFN ball field at the end of Duncan Road. Shower and washroom facilities will be available during scheduled hours, although campers should note that there is no electricity or water service and campfires are prohibited.

Volunteer Symposium Registration Opens

Volunteer organizations, community leaders and residents are invited to take part in the first Temiskaming Volunteer Symposium on Saturday, September 26 at Northern College's Haileybury Campus.
Hosted by the Temiskaming Foundation and the Temiskaming Shores & Area Chamber of Commerce, the event is designed to strengthen volunteer programs across the region while connecting people with meaningful ways to get involved in their communities.
The daytime symposium runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and features educational sessions, panel discussions and networking opportunities. Registration is $10 per participant.
The day continues with a Volunteer Fair from 5 to 8 p.m., where local organizations will showcase volunteer opportunities and meet with community members interested in giving back. Non-profit organizations can reserve a table for $20, while for-profit businesses can participate for $50, with Chamber member discounts available.
Registration is now open for both the educational sessions and volunteer fair.

🛍️ Vendor Tables Available
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 227 is looking for vendors for its Community Garage Sale on August 15 and 16, with table rentals available for $20.
Vendors must bring their own table, and all table rental proceeds support the Legion. To reserve a space, contact June at 705-498-3879.
🥞 Legion Breakfast Returns
Haileybury Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54 is bringing back its popular breakfast this Saturday Aug 8th and Sunday Aug 9th only, served from 7 a.m. to noon.
Enjoy a full breakfast for $12 for adults and $6 for children, with all your favourites plus a few delicious extras.
🧲 Magnet Fishing Week
The Armstrong Township Public Library is hosting Magnet Fishing Week from August 10 to 15, inviting visitors to try their luck at catching magnetic fish for a chance to win prizes.
The free activity is open throughout the week at the library and is part of its ongoing 50th anniversary celebrations.
🤠 Rodeo Colouring Contest
Children 13 and under can enter the New Liskeard RAM Rodeo Colouring Contest for a chance to win before the rodeo rides into town.
Pick up a colouring sheet at New Liskeard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram or print one online, then return it by Thursday, August 13 at 1:30 p.m. The New Liskeard RAM Rodeo takes place August 15 and 16.
🌱 4-H Discovery Day Registration Open
Registration is now open for 4-H Temiskaming Discovery Day, a free hands-on event for youth ages 6 to 12 on Saturday, August 29 at Kerns Hall.
The event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and is open to both 4-H members and non-members. Registration is limited to the first 20 participants, so families are encouraged to sign up early.
🎨 Summer Reading Colouring Contest
The Temiskaming Shores Public Library is inviting children ages 3 to 12 to take part in its TD Summer Reading Club Colouring Contest.
The contest runs from July 22 to August 12, with first-place prizes awarded in each age category. Pick up a colouring sheet at the library and submit your entry before the deadline.
