Flood Watch in Effect Until April 21 — Rising Water Levels

A Flood Watch is officially in effect for the area until Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 4:00 PM. Water levels and flows are continuing to rise as the spring freshet gets underway. Residents are asked to use caution around all lakes, rivers, creeks, streams, shorelines, and banks. Anyone in low-lying areas or along shorelines should monitor conditions closely and prepare accordingly. Please supervise children and pets near water, and avoid deteriorating lake and river ice. Meals on Wheels Volunteers Needed — Timiskaming Home Support Is Looking for Help

Pic Credit: Timiskaming Home Support (THS)
Timiskaming Home Support (THS) is looking for volunteers to help deliver Meals on Wheels — a vital service for residents who can't prepare their own meals due to illness, age, or mobility challenges. Volunteers deliver meals to clients and provide a brief social check-in, helping reduce isolation and ensure nutritious food reaches those who need it most. If you have some time to give, contact Timiskaming Home Support to learn more — volunteers may undergo a background check and brief training. Apply at homesupportservices.ca or reach out directly through their Facebook page →

The Town of Latchford had a busy council meeting this week. A new municipal website is on the way with easier access to agendas, minutes, by-laws, and a community calendar. Garbage collection moves to Tuesdays starting April 21 — watch for schedules being delivered to your door. The Town received $41,234 in funding for a backup generator and a new emergency alert system to keep residents safe and informed. Three residents — Debbie Burrows, Colleen Tresidder & Scott Green — were appointed to the Waterfront Strategic Plan Committee, and a second budget meeting is set for April 27 at 5:45 PM at the Town Office. Game Coming Soon!
Be On The Look Out!
You’re going to start seeing this guy around.
We call him the Tri Town Guide.

We’re going to be launching a simple daily game on Facebook called Find the Guide. Each day we’ll post a photo somewhere around the Tri Town. The Guide will be in that photo. Your job will be to figure out where it is.

You’ll drop your guess in the comment, and every correct answer will count as an entry. We’ll draw a winner each week and feature them in the newsletter. Local businesses will be part of it too, so prizes will come from right here in the community.
It’s meant to be simple. Something quick, something fun, something that makes you look at the tri town area a little differently.
We’re not launching it just yet. We want to build this up properly first. But it’s coming soon.
So for now, just keep an eye out.
Because once the Guide starts showing up, you’ll know it’s time to play.
