Celebrating 50 Years: Coach “Bear” Barron Honoured

Temiskaming Shores Minor Hockey Association is inviting the community to come together for a special moment on the ice this Saturday.
On April 11 at 6:20 pm, TSMHA will host an on-ice presentation to honour Rick “Bear” Barron for an incredible 50 years of dedication to minor hockey.
For generations of players and families in the Tri Town area, Coach Bear has been a familiar face at the rink. His commitment, leadership, and passion for the game have helped shape countless young athletes both on and off the ice.
This surprise celebration is a chance for the community to show appreciation for someone who has given so much to local hockey over the decades.
If you’ve ever been part of minor hockey in Temiskaming Shores, this is one you won’t want to miss.
End of an Era for Northern Industrial & Environmental Supply

A familiar local business in New Liskeard is preparing to close its doors.
Northern Industrial & Environmental Supply, located on Whitewood Ave, has announced it will be shutting down on May 30, 2026 as the owners step into retirement after nine and a half years of service.
In their announcement, they shared that the decision was not an easy one and expressed deep gratitude for the support, loyalty, and relationships built within the community over the years.
Residents are invited to stop by before closing to say goodbye and take a look at the remaining inventory. Details about a closing sale are expected to be shared soon.
It’s the end of a chapter for a business that has quietly served the Tri Town area for nearly a decade, leaving behind both customers and friendships.
Last Call for the Slopes This Saturday

If you’ve been thinking about getting one last run in, this is your chance.
This Saturday marks the final day of the season on the slopes, with spring conditions and discounted lift passes giving skiers and snowboarders a perfect send-off. It’s a great opportunity to soak in the warmer weather and enjoy the hill one more time before it closes for the year.
The tube hill has already shut down due to melting conditions, but the main runs are still open for one last day of fun.
After a great season, this weekend is all about getting outside, enjoying the snow while it lasts, and closing things out on a high note.
Heads Up: Sunday Public Skate Cancelled

If you were planning to get out on the ice this Sunday evening, there’s been a change to the schedule.
The public skate at the Don Shepherdson Memorial Arena in New Liskeard, originally set for April 12 from 6:15 to 7:45 pm, has been cancelled.
No reason was given for the cancellation, but the city has shared an apology for the inconvenience and thanked residents for their understanding.
If skating was part of your weekend plans, it might be a good idea to check upcoming ice times or look for alternate activities around the area.

Game Coming Soon!
Be On The Look Out!
You’re going to start seeing this guy around.
We call him the Tri Town Guide.

We’re going to be launching a simple daily game on Facebook called Find the Guide. Each day we’ll post a photo somewhere around the Tri Town. The Guide will be in that photo. Your job will be to figure out where it is.
You’ll drop your guess in the comment, and every correct answer will count as an entry. We’ll draw a winner each week and feature them in the newsletter. Local businesses will be part of it too, so prizes will come from right here in the community.
It’s meant to be simple. Something quick, something fun, something that makes you look at the tri town area a little differently.
We’re not launching it just yet. We want to build this up properly first. But it’s coming soon.
So for now, just keep an eye out.
Because once the Guide starts showing up, you’ll know it’s time to play.
