Lions Show Fight Through First Three Games at OHF Championships

The New Liskeard Lions are three games into the U18A OHF Championships and have already shown resilience and offensive push against strong provincial competition.

The Lions opened the tournament with a hard-fought 4–4 tie against the Porcupine Gold Kings. It was a back-and-forth battle, with New Liskeard matching their opponent stride for stride. Jackson Smith led the way with a standout performance, recording 2 goals and 2 assists in the opener.

Game two proved more challenging, as the Lions faced the South Oxford Storm and fell 7–0. Despite the scoreline, the team continued to compete and gain valuable experience against one of the tournament’s top clubs.

In their third game, the Lions bounced back offensively but came up just short in a 7–5 loss to the St. Thomas Stars. Robert Burnett had a big game for New Liskeard, scoring 2 goals and adding an assist as the Lions pushed to keep pace.

Through three games, the Lions have demonstrated determination, flashes of strong offense, and a willingness to compete against elite teams. With more hockey still ahead, they’ll look to build on those positives and finish strong on home ice.

Game Coming Soon!

Be On The Look Out!

You’re going to start seeing this guy around.

We call him the Tri Town Guide.

We’re going to be launching a simple game on Facebook called Find the Guide. On certain days we’ll post a photo somewhere around the Tri Town. The Guide will be in that photo. Your job will be to figure out where it is.

You’ll drop your guess in the comment, and every correct answer will count as an entry. We’ll draw a winner each week and feature them in the newsletter. Local businesses will be part of it too, so prizes will come from right here in the community.

It’s meant to be simple. Something quick, something fun, something that makes you look at the tri town area a little differently.

We’re not launching it just yet. We want to build this up properly first. But it’s coming soon.

So for now, just keep an eye out.

Because once the Guide starts showing up, you’ll know it’s time to play.
